World Cultural Diversity Day
Today is World Cultural Diversity Day, so we decided to share with you what diversity means to us at IEC Abroad.
Here’s some context to the World Cultural Diversity as told by the United Nations.
The World Cultural Diversity provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to advance the four goals of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions adopted on 20 October 2005:
- Support sustainable systems of governance for culture
- Achieve a balanced flow of cultural goods and services and increase mobility of artists and cultural professionals
- Integrate culture in sustainable development frameworks
- Promote human rights and fundamental freedoms
What does diversity mean to us?
Here at IEC Abroad, we are a multi-national team made up of education professionals across 8 global offices in; UK, Saudi Arabia, China, India and Thailand. This makes us a hugely diverse team whose knowledge and expertise isn’t limited by race, religion, gender, class, physical ability or beliefs. In our Manchester office alone, members of our team proudly represent; Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Palestine, Iraq, India, Sierra Leone, China, Bangladesh, Ghana, Philippines, Poland and UK. Diversity to us means acknowledging and celebrating our different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, whilst working together to drive a business forward, in a workspace free of discrimination and hatred.
