The University of Central Lancashire is one of the largest in the United Kingdom with a student and staff community of approximately 38,000. UCLan is situated in Preston, Lancashire, on a campus just a short distance from the city centre. The beautiful landscape of the Lake District is not far away, and the town itself is host to many cafes and galleries, as well as a shopping centre, world-class sports facilities and historic architecture.

- Preston North End may not be thought of as an English football powerhouse today, but they won the league and the FA Cup in 1889 without losing the game all season. Only Arsenal (in 2004) has managed an undefeated top-level league campaign ever since.
