Applying for a student visa to study abroad
Once you have got a firm offer letter from a university abroad, it is time
for the final step - getting a student visa.
Depending on the length of your course, your student visa to study abroad can be a Short-term Student Visa (3 months) or Long-term Student Visa.
The latter will cover your course duration as well as internship and so on. Most countries will also classify the student visa according to the degree level – undergraduate, graduate or doctoral.

- Valid passport – It is best if your visa validity extends beyond your course duration. You should have at least 2 blank pages for visa stamping. Another criterion is that you might need to submit copies of your expired passports too.
- University offer letter – Student visa from India also requires you to offer proof that you are a bonafide student. This means that you must show confirmation of admission to the university abroad.
- Financial records – Most countries will need students to prove that they will be able to take care of the college tuition costs as well as living expenses. Countries might have a stipulated minimum amount of funds that should be shown.

As a student of higher education, you will need a Tier 4 visa. If you are an unaccompanied student, you will not need to show accommodation plans. In case there are any doubts or clarifications needed you might be called in for an interview.
