An internationally renowned campus, providing world-class academic facilities, the University of East Anglia or UEA is also well-known for its social and cultural facilities on the campus. Situated just about three miles from Norwich, the campus is sprawled across 362 acres of parkland. Location

The University of East Anglia is a university campus spread over 300 acres of rolling parkland only two miles from the center of Norwich. The campus and its grounds are open to the public and the site is visited by thousands every year who enjoy the beauty of the parkland, the forest and the Lake Broad. The College of East Anglia can be accessed easily by road, rail and air. It is well served by Norwich International Airport and less than two hours by train from London. The town is a major regional hub that draws thousands of visitors every week to enjoy shopping and social activities. The University of East Anglia is located on the south-west side of the city, just 15 minutes from the city centre, and provides regular bus service throughout the day and night. Norwich airport has connections to many major UK airports, which will take only 10-15 minutes to reach the university campus upon arrival.

Student Life

Built like a mini-city, University of East Anglia’s rankings found refreshed heights with its fantastic campus university. The sportspark has a variety of offers such as floodlit pitches, more than 60 exercise classes, an athletics track, climbing wall, state of the art gym and fitness centre and qualified PTs.

There are around 200 active societies and clubs within the premises that cater to everyone’s interests. Make new friends, develop new skills and much more when you find a club meant exactly for you. 

Accommodation

Apply before the prescribed deadline and get yourself a guaranteed room. Most of the 3,400 rooms within the campus of the University of East Anglia are less than three years old. Accommodation is not very expensive. Primarily, these are ten-person houses that have a common kitchen and dining area. 

With over 2,000 brand new suite rooms on the campus, there is also a university village located right across the main entrance of the institution. The nearby Norfolk and Suffolk Terraces offer around 600 rooms. Private rented accommodation is also available in Norfolk.

Fun Facts
  • The first Vice-Chancellor of the UEA, Frank Thistlethwaite, used the aggressive architect Denys Lasdun to design the now very famous campus of the University of East Anglia.
  • UEA Alumni Michael Houghton, a trained virologist, was part of a team of scientists who discovered Hepatitis C in 1989. He also co-discovered the genome of Hepatitis D in 1986. The discovery of Hepatitis C has helped to reduce the risk of developing HCV by blood transfusion.
