Located in the London Borough of Newham, London, England, the University of East London UK, is a public university that also has additional campuses situated in Docklands and Stratford.

Traditionally, functioning as a careers-led institution, for the past 125 years, the university prepares its students for imminent job roles. Even today, it is on a mission to equip students with the right kind of knowledge that will help them face challenges of emerging technology that affects almost every industry. 

As part of the University of East London rankings, it was awarded the TEF Bronze, for delivering teaching, learning, and outcomes, thus meeting stringent national quality requirements needed to proffer higher education in the UK. 

Dating back to 1898 and subsequently founded as a university in 1992, the University of East London acceptance rate currently sees around 13,500 students from across 135 countries. The Docklands Campus located in East London is the first new estate in 50 years.

As far as teaching quality goes, UEL was ranked 2nd in the country by the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. Furthermore, it was also featured in the World’s top 200 young universities.

Well-known for sports education with its Olympic and Paralympic projects, UEL’s academic strengths include Cultural and Media Studies, Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Visual Arts, Psychology, Education and Research, besides others.

UEL has three campuses, Stratford and Docklands, the newest of which, Stratford University Square, opened in September 2013. The UEL campuses are situated in Newham, the host city of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, close to two Olympic venues; Stratford Olympic Park and Docklands Excel Centre. UEL’s Olympic and Paralympic initiatives, including research, student engagement and sports collaborations, have been ongoing since it was announced that London’s bid to host the Games was successful in 2005.

Along with other notable attractions such as the Natural History Museum with its life-size blue whale skeleton at the centre of the hall, there is also a dedicated Design Museum – most of these do not charge entry fees

From the Big Ben to the Buckingham Palace, London offers great sightseeing and also encompasses sprawling green spaces – the parks contain deer, pelicans, butterfly houses and dinosaur statues


UEL’s bus services are absolutely free for students and connect the Docklands and Stratford campuses

Commuting is environment-friendly and lets you attend lectures and meetings besides social and sports facilities

The Docklands campus connects via a DLR station to central London allowing students to study and live along the beautiful waterside, with the city centre just a few hops away
