Overview of Royal Holloway University of London

Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL), officially integrated as Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, is a government study university and a constitutive college of the Federal University of London. It has three faculties, 20 academic departments and 9,200 undergraduate and postgraduate learners from more than 100 nations. The Egham campus was established by the Victorian entrepreneur and philanthropist Thomas Holloway in 1879. Royal Holloway College was formally launched as an all-women college by Queen Victoria in 1886.

The University was founded by two social reformers who championed the principles of excellence and inclusiveness. Their vision is alive today. As one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities, we are home to some of the world’s leading science, arts, business, economics and law institutions. We are strengthened by diversity and welcome students and academics who travel from all over the world to study and work here, ensuring an international and multicultural perspective on campus.

The Royal Holloway campus in Egham is situated around 135 acres of woodland, between Windsor and Heathrow on the outskirts of London. The town is within walking distance and has many stores, bars and restaurants. By train, the campus is 35 minutes from the center of London, and Windsor is also a short distance away. The campus offers the best of both worlds, being comfortable and relaxed, yet also lively and busy. The Independent reported that Royal Holloway is “known for its friendly and supportive atmosphere.”
