Overview of University of Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire University, which began in 1847, has three campuses across Cheltenham and Gloucester: Francis Close Hall, Oxstalls, The Park. A fashion, art and photography center in Chletenham is also available. The University and the largest of the three is the Parks, Cheltenham. The university offers nearly 100 undergraduate and 57 postgraduate courses in eight schools. The University and the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College have a 10-year memorandum of understanding to support access to higher education.

The University is centrally located in the United Kingdom and within easy reach of major cities. London is two hours away by car or rail, with Birmingham, Bristol and Oxford less than an hour away. Two campuses are located in the town of Cheltenham, also referred to as the ‘ Gateway to the Cotswolds, ‘ with a third in the nearby Oxstalls. Cheltenham is a beautiful and pleasant town located in an area of outstanding natural beauty that draws six million visitors from all over the world every year. It is also home to the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse, which is also used as a venue for social events and university graduation.

Fun Facts
  • The cloisters of the Gloucester Cathedral were used for the "Harry Potter" series taking place at Hogwarts College.
  • In December 2014, Neptune's trident was stolen from the Cheltenham Promenade fountain before the thieves returned it with an apologetic note.
