Founded in 71 AD by the Romans, York remains the religious center of the North of England, the seat of one of Britain’s two archbishops and the impressive York Minster Cathedral. It contains a wide variety of structures, some of which date back to the original Roman city walls. It is a city of culture, with numerous theaters and concert halls, as well as small independent cinemas and restaurants. London is just two hours away by train, with the main university campus itself situated only 20 minutes ‘ drive from the city centre.
