Programmes and scholarships
The University is organised into four Academic Schools:

  • The Aston Business School (ABS) offers a range of broad-based and specialist Business and Management courses and research, with a growing focus on entrepreneurship
  • The School of Engineering and Applied Science school focuses on the engineering, technological and logistical solutions in demand for society’s future needs
  • The School of Life and Health Sciences (LHS) is one of the leading centres of health sciences within the UK and offers a wide range of courses such as Optometry and Pharmacy
  • The School of Languages and Social Sciences (LSS) offers interdisciplinary teaching and research in Modern Languages, English Language, Politics and International Relations as well as Sociology and Policy

Aston has over 50 years of experience in providing students with integrated employer placement opportunities and was one of the pioneers of this approach to university degrees.  A placement year gives you the opportunity to try out your chosen career path and provides you with the perfect opportunity to apply what you have learnt on your course to a professional work environment. The study placement year abroad is spent in another country, increasing fluency in another language and adding value to your degree by immersing yourself in an exciting new culture and society.
Our scholarship programmes help to ensure that anyone who is qualified to come to Aston University can afford to do so, regardless of their financial circumstances. Aston scholarships for UK/EU students currently allow a choice between campus accommodation discounts, tuition fee discounts or other support towards living costs. Scholarships are also available for international students. Cost shouldn’t limit your career aspirations, which is why we offer all Aston graduates a reduction in MSc course fees, whatever their discipline.
