Brief

Founded in 1895, Aston University. It is a long-established research-led university recognized for its quality of world-class learning and powerful connections with sector, government and trade. The task of the university is to provide and sustain a sustainable campus that will enhance the student experience. Currently, the University has a student population of over 14,000 (10,000 graduates and over 3,700 graduates) registered from 135 nations worldwide.

Either as an optional module in your degree, you can choose to study French, German, Spanish, Mandarin or Arabic while you are in Aston. In 2010, Aston University ranked first for quality of life for students, while FHM and Virgin Student ranked it among the country’s most friendly universities.

Location

Birmingham is a West Midlands, England town and metropolitan district. Birmingham is UK’s second most populous city (after London) and English Midlands ‘ most populous town. People from Birmingham are called Brummies, a term derived from the city’s “Brum” nickname, which comes from the old name of the city, Brummagem, which in turn is thought to derive from “Bromwich-ham.” The accent and dialect of Brummie are especially unique.

Fun Facts
  • The main building in which all teaching takes place is the largest functional brick building in Europe. We also have campus resident geese that can be loud in the morning.
  • It could be a very lively place on campus, and everybody's sitting on the green when the weather is warmer.
  • There are fruit trees (apple, pear and plum) all over the campus, and the fruit is collected from them and put in baskets for free in the students ' union.
